Our Monday FULL MOON session is dedicated to the Fifth chakra—the throat, our center of communication. Many of us (and certainly many in my orbit) grew up in environments where our voices were muted—by circumstance, conditioning, or a deep sensitivity that made us retreat into silence. I know this intimately. As a child, I often felt unsafe expressing myself. I didn’t have the words for it then, but I do now, after years of untangling all the silences and stifled truths.
Art became my sanctuary—my escape, my language when words failed. My home was filled with art and artists, and two of my greatest healing teachers were/are published writers. I’ve worked across the spectrum of the contemporary art world, but what keeps pulling me back is art’s ability to transmit energy, emotion, and truth—without explanation. It’s a language of its own. A picture really does speak a thousand words.
It speaks through shape, color, form—through feeling. Art is a language of vibration beyond words. An energetic transmission.
I often tell clients with blocked throat chakras to try art—painting, drawing, anything—to move what can’t be spoken. There’s a myth that you have to be good at art to even pick up a brush. But being good or bad has nothing to do with accessing yourself. In fact, some of the best artists in the world are “bad” at art—and they’ve built brilliant careers...
On Monday night, we’ll talk about art and image, and explore creative communication in all its forms. We’ll also explore how to open the throat chakra, and I’ll invite everyone to express and share.
I used to shy away from noise and raw emotion. It overwhelmed me. I even judged it—probably because my own system couldn’t yet hold it. But now? I welcome it. Our culture leaves little room for emotional wildness. You can’t sob on the subway or rage in a meeting—but those feelings are real and necessary.
In our space, you can. You’re allowed. Sometimes that means crying. Sometimes that means screaming into a pillow. A little more wildness, a little less polish—that’s the medicine.
If your neck is tight, your voice hoarse, or your jaw aching, you might be holding something in. That’s your fifth chakra calling for attention. Blue is the color of this energy center.
To deepen this I’ll also be offering a special Art & Healing workshop on Saturday, May 24th from 10am–1pm for those who want to explore this deeper.
