Thistle Elementals 8 x10” study oil on canvas 2025 Emma Gray

This one is short and sweet!

I trust deeply in nature and the elemental spirits. Almost all of my paintings are inspired by the four elements and the power of nature. I hope you enjoy my Thistle elemental painting above. The thistle has been a symbol of Scotland for centuries, reflecting the wild and untamed nature of the Scottish landscape, it is the national flower of Scotland, symbolizing bravery, devotion, and ruggedness!

It represents a “prickly” nature of defense and independence. I relate to its independence, though my thistle fairies in the painting seek to soften the prickly

sting!

Please enjoy this song by my favorite contemporary Scottish composer Erland Cooper from Music for Growing Flowers

I first had an awakening experience in New Mexico at the age of 21, with my stepmother and healer, Althea. I remember seeing light coming off plants, trees, and all organic living things, I could perceive the energy fields and life force of nature, and this ability has never left me. When I returned to the UK, I was not the same Emma. I had expanded massively. My mother, an avid gardener and nature lover sensed that something had shifted in me and rushed around the corner to introduce me to Philippa Pullar, writer, healer and gardener. Philippa said I was out of my body and immediately prescribed flower essences and grounding practices. I have my mother to thank for that introduction, as Philippa went on to be one of the most important spiritual guides and teachers in my early life, like a second mother, and she still guides from the other side in the meditation studio.
